Interactive Story Thread: Character Profiles

So this is something that we've done in the clan before. It was really popular in several of the other clans that I've been in so I thought I'd try it again. This will be the ground work for a new story thread. All members of the clan are encouraged to participate. The actual story won't take place in this thread. This will be a place to write out a character profile for the story. Actual rules for the story will be posted on the first of the story. This story takes place 1000 years after the war against the covenant.

Background info: Father was a spartan. Mother was a Navy Lieutenant Commander. She died from complications during child birth. Eli was raised by his father and was trained in spartan tactics. He eventually went to a very prestigious military academy getting Commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. He quickly rose through the ranks. As a colonel he led his unit in to enemy lines on a search and rescue mission. Battle ensued and his father got caught in the middle of the crossfire and was killed in action being the only allied casualty. He was soon after promoted to the rank of Brigadier General. He made it up to the rank of four star general. Taking command of the 501st ODST Division.

James wasn't always the brightest in public school and wasn't much of a talker during his early years but after high school his father was killed during an assault on Harvest by Rebels or Innie's. His mother later went to the crazy house because she was a sociopath. Therefore it left James to be by himself and take care of his younger sister. After graduating High School James joined the military. His sister went with him to every base he trained at. James was later promoted to Corporal and was offered to be an ODST. His sister(about 15 by now) lied to a recruiting station and saying she was 17. not knowing his sister was in the same squad as him, they went on a patrol to seek out Rebels. they were ambushed. no rebels were alive but the only person to be yelling his name was his Sister's voice. The last words she spoke to him was,"I love you" and she died in his arms. After that fateful day James was not the sweet innocent teenage boy anymore,he became a hard ass. and only wanted the best for his men and to never let another person die.

James is now 21 and has a family. but he never see's them because he wants to make sure they are safe from harms way. He also does not like to take orders from newly recruited officers because that is how,in his mind, his sister died because of a stupid mistake by a not so well trained "d**k head". James was last seen on a vacation to Earth, in the country United Sates in San Diego,California.

Well I've decided to go ahead and start up the thread. So here comes the start.

Name: Philip Carlasabad

Info: Father was a drug addict in the streets of post war New Mombassa. Mother unknown. Grew up roughing it, trusting no one. Decided to join the Army to move ahead and go some where in life. Watched his best friend die, and was scarred. This caused him to lose his mental stability. He went on rampage, and dishonorably discharged for it. Now 2 years later, he returns. He decided to be an ODST and joined the 501st.

Dark story huh?

I'd like to change the theme of the story from a halo theme to one that would be unique to the 501st. It'll take place in Earths future. This way we don't have to hold to themes and time lines already set in the halo universe. What do you all think about this?

I like the idea. It opens a whole new range of different possibilities for character profiles.

Name: Vasily Kandinsky
Sex: Male
Rank: Gunnery Sergeant

Background Information: Vasily was born in Moscow. His father was a Captain in the Russian Home-Defense Airforce and his mother was a high school Biology teacher. His mother was killed in 3552 during the Second Russian Revolution when a group of ultra-nationalist guerrillas launched a bio-chemical attack on Moscow`s school systems, hoping to force the government to make concessions. Vasily at the time was swept up like the rest of the young people and joined the Ultra-Nationalist army: Армия лучше России (Armiyaluchshe Rossii, The Army for A Better Russia) as tank commander. Proficient in the areas of mechanics and armored vehicles, Vasily quickly became a tank ace, destroying 75 loyalist tanks in the first 8 months of the Revolution.

Vasily turned on his ultra-nationalist comrades when he was forced to kill his father, whom was shot down over Ultra-Nationalist territory. Upon refusal, the U-N commander executed his father right in front of him. Vasily, in a tempest of rage, killed the commander and fled the compound.

Wanted by both the Loyalist forces and the Ultra-Nationalists, Vasily left Russia, and enlisted with the UNSC, signing up to be an ODST tank commander. He quickly rose through the ranks and became a gunnery sergeant, with over a hundred enemy tank kills credited since his enlistment. He has recently been transferred to the ODST 501st Airborne Battalion, where he hopes to serve as he always has; with excellence and commitment.

Name: Matt Lowndes

Background Information:
Matt was born in 3540. His father was in the police force at the time and his mother was an office receptionist. He grew up in a suburb not far from Melbourne, in Australia. As he grew up, he idolised his father, and wanted to join the police force himself. After he finished school, he did so. He was in the traffic division for a couple of years, and he then requested to be moved to the SOG (Special Operations Group). He was accepted, the same month his father became appointed Chief of Police. They both had a lot to celebrate.

In 3562, his father was taken hostage by a patriotic group known as 'Requiem'. Matt's SOG team was sent to rescue him, but his father had already been executed when his team arrived. After his father's funeral, Matt decided to resign from the police force. He just felt that he didn't belong there anymore. He decided to join the Australian Military. When they heard of his experience in the SOG, they accepted him instantly. After the basic training courses, he was assigned to the 7th Assault Platoon.

From there, he was stationed in Bethlehem, a city south of Jerusalem. The Holy City was under threat of attack from a group of Athiest-Terrorists. He defended the city from many small attacks for 10 months, until the city faced a full-scale attack from all sides. Matt defended the south side with his platoon, despite being outnumbered 5 to 1. He recieved a promotion to Corporal after the fight. In 3565, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant for showing excellence on the battlefield. The 7th Assault Platoon was then sent as Bravo Team to eleminate a terrorist hot spot in Indonesia, north of Australia. Many of Alpha Team were killed, and 5 members of Bravo were shot dead, including the platoon commander. As second in command, Matt bravely led the surviving members of both teams to safety. The operation was successful, but to a cost. Due to his bravery and leadership, Matt was promoted to Captain, and offered to join the AEOU (Australian Elite Operations Union)

He gracefully accepted, and became second in command of Alpha Unit. This unit was sent with a group of allied US Navy SEALS to eliminate the knewly discovered terrorist HQ in the mountains of Iran. This operation was largely successful, with only 2 wounded soldiers. Matt remained in the AEOU for a further 2 years until 3567.

At this time, Matt was tired of Earth. He requested movement to the UNSC. This was unlikely, considering he had to be retrained. However, as a member of the AEOU, he was accepted with the condition that he be demoted to Warrant Officer. Matt agreed, and became a Marine for the UNSC. He showed extreme excellence and experience in his training, and once it was finished, he was offered to either join the fight as a squad commander, or continue training to become one of the UNSC's most advanced killing machines, an ODST. He decided to become an ODST, and continued training for 6 months. Afterwards he became a Warrent Officer of the 9th Dropteam Battalion, codnamed "The Bullfrogs".

In 3570 He fought against a rebellion on Sigma Octanus IV, a small planet largely covered by dense jungles and rice fields. The capital of the planet, Côte d'Azur, had been sieged an army rebels, and The Bullfrogs were dropped at scattered locations in the city in pairs. Matt and his partner, Luke, had killed more than 40 rebels in their attack, and the operation was a success. Côte d'Azur had been returned to UNSC control, and the surviving rebels were imprisoned. After the battle, Matt was ordered to go to ONI Stalker Base on Khoto. There, he was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant, and assigned to the ODST 501st Airborne Battalion, where he remains today.

Name: Wilhelm Wodanson

Background Information:
Wilhelm was born in Trondheim, Norway his dad was a Marine Engineer and his mom stayed at home for the most part. He moved to Castine, Maine, U.S.A. at the age of 6 due to political reasons. He was a middle level student in school, not too successful in academics due to a language barrier which he overcame at the age of 13 and graduated high school to go to a military academy for college. There he received slightly above average grades and went off to the UNSC to be a grunt.

He ranked number 1 most accurate in his group and was sent off to sniper school. At the sniper school he excelled in every field that was presented completing it at the 2nd highest overall grade in his group. He was his squads designated for one tour then went back and became an ODST. Their he became top shot in his class and went off to more sniper school. There he become an official ODST Sniper. He was put into a group called "krigere av Volholl" meaning "warriors of Valhalla" that consisted of primarily German and Norsk personal, which he liked considering his origin and quickly grew a strong team relationship amongst each other. With them Wilhelm went on many "high-stakes" assassiantion missions primarily to take out rebel leaders and other HVTs this quickly rocketed him through the ranks (despite the amounts of paper work he had to do on top of his missions) and eventually made it to the rank of Captain. Maintaining this rank he was reassigned to the ODST 501st Airborne Battalion where he currently operates as the designated sniper along with his spotter Axel.

Name: Nathan Turner
Sex: Male
Rank: First Lieutenant
Age: In his thirties....

Background Information:
Turner was born in 3543 in the Republic of Texas. He was set to be a country boy, and up until he was 16, that's what he was. An avid hunter, he became proficient in the use of knives, familiarized himself with firearms at a young age, and developed a 'no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is attitude'. He was also shown to have the initiative that many did not, graduating high-school at the top of his class. His parents were set on continuing his education, but as time went by, he began to respect and admire the military and its values...

He saw the opportunity to escape his control-freak stepfather's shadow and enlisted in the UNSC Marine Corps in 3550 as an armorer, to his utter disappointment. He constantly, over and over, applied for a transfer to Infantry, but was constantly turned down for medical reasons until 3552. He was sent off-world with the 9th Marine Regiment as an Assaultman. (Anti-Armor, urban combat, and explosive-breaching-trained infantry.) Sadly, he never got to take in his new role, as a suicide bomber at the UNSC Embassy on Paris IV cost him his left hand.

Back on Earth, with his injury, he was quickly promoted to First Sergeant and stuck back as an armorer at the Marine Corps Precision Weapons Station, where he would have stayed for the rest of his career, had he not been approached by General Johnson and his staff, who gave Turner a shot at what he was born to do, but he'd have to prove he still deserved it...

In the coming months, he brown-nosed his company commander to get commissioned to 1st Lieutenant, and fast became the official #1 Marine Corps marksman with the M90A3 Shotgun. Upon his grandfather's deathbed, he inherited an M1911A1 pistol passed down from the Second World War. He got a bionic prosthesis for his hand and missing fingers. Almost all of his salary for weeks was spent tweaking every ounce of his individual load-bearing equipment, and he took every school and class the Marine Corps had under the sun. Upon his tryout for ODST Special Operations, only 4 out of 67 passed. He was one of them.

Now a Platoon Commander in the 501st ODST Airborne, he gives one-hundred and ten percent every single day, and would give his last breath for his Corps, because unlike many of his comrades, he had to earn every word of his resume...

Name: Axel Krieger

Rank: Chief Warrant Officer 3

Background Information:
Axel was born in Berlin, German and traveled back and forth to the back woods of Pennsylvania with his father. A trained knife specialist, he collected knives and perfected his art at 16. Axel demonstrated excellent marksmanship from a young age while hunting. He attended college at UNSCMA for 2 years but dropout because he felt he wasn't challenged enough and opted to enlist and volunteered to join as an ODST at 21. He passed and trained as a Spotter.

During one mission, Axel and his sniper were cut of from the rest of their platoon and bombarded with mortar fire. His sniper was wounded, which forced him to be the primary shooter. However, he and his sniper were captured and tortured by hostile militia. After 40 days of capture, he escaped, but his comrade perished. He was then assigned to ODST Black Recon as a designated marksman and later as a spotter. Axel demonstrated ruthless stealth tactics and earned the nickname "Ghost." He later decided to join the ODST 501st Airborne Battalion after assisting a future partner, Wilhelm, in holding a mountain side during a joint-force mission. He occasional opts out of being a spotter to carry out missions as a squad gunner only working with Wilhelm. When not a mission, he evaluates members of the battalion with psychological problems.

While being evacuated one mission, he met Alexandra, and fell in love. Later the two married, and she remained his pilot.

Remember, Ghost, this takes place in the 3500's. Modern firearms like the M14 are extremely obsolete, and Delta's been disbanded for more then a thousand years, so on and so forth...

That is what they want you to think Newbz. Though you do have a point on the weaponry. But we can just say that they were more like M14v10 (M14 Version 10)

Name: Semyon Petrovl.
Age: 27.
Sex: Male.
Nationality: Russian.
Rank: Corporal.
Unit: Served with the Marines 31st Airborne Division during the Human-Covenant War; he was recently submitted as a combat support pilot as well as a drop-off pilot for the ODST 501st Airborne Battalion in missions that do not permit Orbital Drops.

Background Information: Semyon was a Earthborn Russian soldier, serving in the Russian Army at the time of which he was entered by his commanding officer into the UNSC. Starting service as a infantryman/demolition, he reached the rank of Sergeant; but during a horrific incident almost his entire squad was killed and he too was injured badly. His left hand was replaced with a prosthetic robot arm. He never recovered fully from this and his old achievements shunned him as he was demoted back down to a Private First Class. However, during a major mission he was able to reach the rank of Corporal after flying one of the highest number of combat drops in UNSC History; including dropping off a Spartan team.

As the Human-Covenant War grinded to a halt, he was on a final attack on a derelict Covenant outpost on a near-completely frozen planet. However, his bird was shot down and crashed; killing all but Semyon. His aircraft soon froze and was embodied by snow, an artificial cryo station. The years passed by, and the sun of the local galaxy had grown to a larger size; melting the ice and snow that encased Semyon's aircraft. He was able to re-activate the outpost's radio transponder, and was eventually found by UNSC Forces. However, though not the end of him, Semyon lost all of his faith in humanity and himself; residing now as a heavily-pessimistic pilot. He still holds respect for his comrades, but he is constantly awaiting his death.

Yeah, knifes are pretty timeless. Hence, my character using a steel-ceramic alloy Ka-Bar.

But remember, especially with more complex gear like weapons and armor, we are literally a thousand-five-hundred years from now. That's tremendous, especially for military equipment. Even using the BR from Halo 3 would be extremely pushing the envelope. Infantry in the future are gonna be either SUPER high-speed spec-ops, or literal mechanized infantry right out of Fallout, or both.

But we might still be fighting Somalis, though! We ARE fighting human insurgencies...

But I'm assuming that Skirata is the 'dungeon master' here, so we'll see...

So based on the vote we WONT be using a halo theme. Weapons can literally be anything ranging from a knife to current modern weapons to the weapons of the future. The sky is the limit.

Well in this case my primary melee weapon would have to be a ninja sword. With a plasma edge. (Like what Zero from borderlands uses)

Not exactly what I intended this thread for but I'm going to profile a weapon.

Name: M350A1
Type: Multi-use plasma rifle
Effective Range: 5 km
Bio: This weapon can be used for anything from sniping to CQC. It can be used for up to 3 months in heavy combat situations for up to 3 months without changing the plasma charge pack on the side of the barrel. The scope goes from zero magnification to up to 50x magnification. The scope can be connected to the hud. The main disadvantage of the rifle is apart from ion bolts disabling electronic systems, it is virtually useless against hard targets such as tanks. It's the primary weapon issued to ODST's though they have the option of using any other weapon of their choosing. During the ODST Training at the Orbit Warfare Reserve in the Sonoran Dessert, Trainees are required to use the M350. This weapon has almost no recoil. Many trainees have compared the recoil to shooting a .22 caliber rifle.

Probably. You can add anything to the story that you want.
